Hi
They seem to be having issues with the IT and few other things on the Universal Credit front (millions and millions of them)..
The linked video's are worth a look - Margaret voices her views ( I like her)
IDS seems to have gone a little quiet maybe!

Yes I saw that too. I hope they get it sorted because I actually think UC will be a better system and will help to make work pay. It will get rid of things like the 16 hour rule and other similar barriers which seems to discourage people from doing more hours. Although I do see lots of problems around monthly payments and paying rent directly to the claimant.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Hi
Yes, I can see where you are coming from
Listening to the Margaret Hodge video, she makes a lot of sense in my opinion.
Expensive IT write offs by the sound of things, what is going on?

I`m a serving Civil Servant (not naming which department) and have read the PAC report about UC.
Its not good reading for IDS with the low points being
1) Contracts being signed by people which were well in excess of their spending limit
2) Even by concentrating on the alleged cases (single claims with no dependents) the system struggled to cope with approx 2,500 cases and worst of all
3) The security of the system itself is woeful.
This is the same as most other Government IT projects - oh and for those who read the Times, yesterday the Times had a front page article saying that IDS was trying to get the Tory members of the PAC to lay all the blame on the Civil Servant who runs the DWP and to exonerate him and his ministers.0 -
The full PAC report is here

Looks like houses are going to be demolished because of the "bedroom tax".

Hi
A somewhat puzzling press article (too me anyway)
No mention of arrears, associated debt and other problems then, is there??
Oh, maybe everything is OK.

Meanwhile, back in the real world??

Yes it's strange there isn't any mention of the problems tenants are having finding this money.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Why can't three single people share them? That seems the obvious solution to me.Two solutions in fact, because most single people can't get social housing and will have to share in the private sector.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
