How often do you shop?

This is my plan and actually has not worked out so far as I am not strict on myself.
I have far too much "stock" everywhere. Spent £652 in January for a family of four! Included alcohol, toiletries, everything. Too many bargains -especially expensive meat. February is going to be eating out of freezer and cupboards month with a low spend attitude for fresh stuff.
Loosely Meal plan around the meat in the freezer which is bought on special offer or whoopsies.
Make best use of Aldi Super Six and Lidl weekend offers as they are over the road from each other.
Use mysupermarket.com to order months worth of cheaper food compared to Aldi and Lidl and will always look for deals especially, cheese, shampoo, conditioner, coffee, Wash Tablets, Clothes softener, Toilet Rolls, Kitchen Rolls, Tooth Paste if they are a Savvy buy.
Used to use Costco for toilet paper and washing powder but cheaper in Aldi or Asda.
Will batch cook especially Spag Bol and use the freezer for everything I can't keep fresh any longer.
Use a list for fresh stuff such as bread, milk, veg, fruit, lunch.
I also use as many coupons as I can, and if I can combine them with special offers,
The more you shop the more you are likely to spend due to impulse buys - this is definitely me and have found I spend more on "offers" so trying to stick to my regime of : Aldi Super Six and Lidl weekend offers, Use mysupermarket.com
If there are any other tips to keep costs down do let us all know, thanks.0 -

I usually go on a Saturday morning to lidl, but might change it to a weekday evening when it's quieter.. It's just me so I don't need to do top up shops in the week. Because the choice is limited in lidl I spend much less than if I shopped in say tescos, no doubt I'd end up coming out with clothes, magazines and all sorts of stuff. Don't get me wrong, I do use Tescos but its usually online and to stock up on value items. I budget £100 a month...also batch cook xx0

our DS2 has just moved out so now it's just the 2 of us. He works in a supermarket and we used to take him to work 3 times a week so were forever popping in and spending money on things we could have managed without!
We've decided to try and go once a fortnight with just a freshfood top up. It may take us a bit to get the hang of it but I'm sure we'll save when we get into it.
Ideally I'd like to go once a month but not sure if we have enough storage space for that.
We've been today and are aiming to make it last a fortnight.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Going to try and have an eat up.
No car today, hubbie has taken mine as his is no good in the snow.
Started to make a list of what we NEED and will take cash with me when I go to the supermarket.
Going to set myself a limit of twice a week, and then cut this done to once0 -
I get a Tesco online shop once a week using delivery saver which works out at £2.77 per delivery. (It costs more than that in petrol for me to go). I do go to Lidl once a month and as there is only one of everything it is less stressful as I don't feel ripped off at every turn.Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends0

I loathe shopping, so I order online from Ocado, Abel & Cole, Riverford, and others occasionally such as Spices of India, French Click, Shorters Club.0

Our staples are veggies of various sorts to last the week, apples and bananas for him to take to work in his lunch box, some fruit for me (either more apples/'nanas or, if they look nice, a galia melon), pineapple sometimes - he cuts it up and I freeze it for use on pizza an in other dinners, and (very important) lemons, as I have a slice of lemon in a cup of tea in preference to milk. Plus other items as and when I feel we need them - extra carrots and an orange, for instance, if I want to make carrot'n'orange cake.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
there are just the 2 of us atm, and i do a fortnightly online shop of around £80-110 (it used to be £60-90 last year, has anyone else noticed their usual supermarket bill being higher??). We just do a few quick trips to get milk, eggs etc in between. I usually get DH to do these shops and he just buys whatever is on the list, so generally we avoid buying stuff on the spur of the moment..
We have joined costco though this month and are moving to a house with a much bigger kitchen and bigger storage and freezer so am hoping to avoid the smaller trips and stock up on non-perishables which would be fab and hopefully save some money! We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.
