Credit report mark from creation finance
I've found two discrepancies on my credit file when signing up to the equifax free trial and wondered what action I should take to correct them.
The first is that I have a late payment mark from creation finance in January of this year. It was the first payment of 30 for sofa finance through dfs. The DD was set up without an issue but when it came to them collecting the payment they say it was refused by my bank and my bank say it wasn't requested. I confirmed the details creation had we're correct and paid that months payment as a one off. I was informed the next payment should go out without problem and on 2nd February it did. There was absolutely nothing I could do about this other than ensure I had the funds in my account and give them the correct details so how do I get this wiped from my credit record.
The second anomaly is that my mother appears on my record as a financial link but there is no reference to how we are linked. I have never had any joint finance with her and she has never been guarantor for any of my purchases. Is this normal? If not then how do I remove it? I was thinking about submitting a notification but I've heard horror stories.
Thanks in advance for all replies

In the first instance, the late payment mark is no big deal as anyone looking a it will see it was cleared within the month and of no import. The finance house system would automatically report that the account was unpaid by the due date, but if it bothers you, contact their CS and say the problem was caused by them and you fail to appreciate being made to take the blame.
As to your second point - it may become clear why the link is in place if she looks at her credit report, as without this, you would be clutching at straws.0 -
I disagree with the post above, i would not want a late payment marker as it can prevent you getting market leading offers for 6-9 months. I would suggest get in contact with them explain and make sure it's removed.0

but there is no reference to how we are linked.
The CR should state which organisation provided the link, and the date they did it, and why. Something like:
Birkenhead Bank Plc - 20/04/2006 - Joint account;
or
Machunlleth Building Society - 01/06/1993 - Joint Mortgage.
If not, then ask the CRA to provide that information. There'll be something innocent to explain it, like you opened a Littlewood's catalogue account together.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty
Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be
