OR interview - big shocker!
Toad
Just a brief post (for a fast typist), I got to get dinner ready for the kids.
Well, had my OR interview today. It was all friendly and the lady was very nice. No judgements, just fact, figures with a friendly voice. The questions as expected and the "why do you think you went bankrupt", which is where I squirmed a bit trying not to say "Coz I'm crap with money!"
Anyway, as I'm on what is considered to be a good salary, I expected some of my expenses for things like contact lenses and swimming (on medical advice) to be disallowed. To my surprise, they were all permitted!
She then announced, by those figures, you have £144/month left over so we'd like you to pay 50% of that to us, is that ok? Of course, that was fine with me, I expected it. Next she asked, "Is there anything else you spend on that you have not listed?". To which my reply was, "Yes, I'm told that you usually allow money for a modest holiday.", then silence, a few seconds later, "Yes, for a family of four such as yours, we allow £60/month is that ok?". Is that ok? Hell yes!
So, then, silence again as she's working on more figures. Then the shocker of the day, "That means that your disposable income is now below the amount where we ask you to make a contribution". So, now ihave to pay NOTHING per month, expect the expected zero tax code!
Overall, bankruptcy has just taken almost £600/month of debt repayments down to NOTHING. I can now concentrate on my new life and enjoy looking after my family with a view to saving to prevet ever using credit again!
So, from a monthly income of £1800, i did quite well. I'm thinking of posting my SOA for people to see, if it is of any use. My dirty laundry is aired in public so i might as well.. if you guys think it will help.
regards

And to the person who said you could never have a store card again. Well I would love to have a T-Shirt that read "Bankrupt and proud!" If it stopped those girls is clothes shop saying to me "Would you like to save 10% today!" Also this is obviously complete nonsense you will get credit again it will just be awhile.0
