Mobile phone contract when bankrupt?

Hi I currently have a mobile phone contract with o2, I've had it for about 10 years, when I go bankrupt are they likely to cut me off or even know about the BR? I've never ever missed a payment for my phone, always been on quite a low contract. Do I need to contact them to discuss? X

I had a mobile phone contract prior to BR.

I kept it, didn't inform anyone - as long as you keep paying it should be ok.

All I had to do was change the DD to my new post BR bank account.

Still have the contract and now discharged.
  • Aha fab, I've cancelled the dd and when I get my statement ill call and pay until I get an account sorted thanks x
  • sorry to say though....o2 changed things around a while ago they now cancel an account once they see details in london gazette

they did with mine and never missed a payment...and i'd been with them from being bt genie

  • I too have been with o2 for years and years. I went BR in July and have never heard anything from them. They even contacted me this week about upgrading. I turned them down as I wasnt sure if they would re credit check just to be on the safe side.
  • I have a contract with orange I went bankrupt in January this year and I've had no problem with them.

  • Aha ok, maybe the thing to do is wait and see. I'm not to bothered about the contract, it's more the number as I've had it for years and years! Even if then cancel me then they'll give me the PAC code thingy won't they?
  • I included all of my phone contracts in my BR. Just prior to BR, I took out two sim only contracts from Tesco Mobile. I chose Tesco Mobile because they use the o2 network which is excellent in my area.

The contract which includes 500 minutes, 500 Tesco to Tesco minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB data for £12.50/month:j which is what I was paying Vodafone and o2 £32 & £31 for respectively!

    Happy days!:D
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy crap we dont need!
  • Do you have to include in BR though if you don't owe them anything?
  • I didn't include my mobile phone account in my bankruptcy. When my sister went bankrupt in 2009 she didn't include hers either.

I went BR in Jan last year, but didn't include O2 in the BR as I didn't owe them anything and had never missed a payment.

Been no problems so far over a year down the line. I have even upgraded with them, as they don't re credit check if already a pay monthly customer! :T
