Hi, I'm new so be nice. Applied for a Clydesdale Bank Loan on 4th Feb, posted paperwork back to them on 5th Feb and received email from them on 6th saying that they would be in touch. Phoned them on 8th Feb to see when i could expect the money to be paid and they told me because of a backlog it could be towards the end of next week!
Does anyone know how long this usually takes and if there is a way that i can speed this up?

ta,
Copey

You can't do anything to " speed it up " sinc you have done everything you were asked to do.

Its not like theres a self service lane (as in supermarkets).

Not alot you cant do anything about, its 1 of them things.

Processed.....not received....so if the papers are only processed a week after those are received I am not sure it's justify to pay an additional £25. It's just a gimmick to get more money and I am not convinced that the funds would be transferred any quicker....

  • I helped my mum make a loan application from Clydesdale Bank online on 25th January and was instantly approved. The paperwork was sent the same day and has been since returned. She still hasn't received the loan.

We called them on Tuesday last week and they said they have a huge backlog of applications to process because of the sucess of the MSE / MoneySuparmarket campaign. They said it would be at the end of this week / beginning of next week so as others have said you just need to be patient. Bear in mind that Martin's email was sent out on 23rd Jan so there will be alot of people in the queue who applied before you.

HI, Thanks for the replies. The reason I asked the question in the first place was because in the past I took out an online load from Sainsbury's and the cheque was couriered the next day. I was hoping for a similar turnaround time from Clydesdale Bank as I have my eye on a car!
  • Has anyone received their loan which they applied to in the MSE promotion?

Its going to be 3 weeks on Wednesday that Martin's original email was sent out. I know MSE promotions are always incredibly popular but Clydesdale should have anticipated the number of applications they would receive. 3 weeks is far too long in anyone's books to be waiting to receive a loan which they have been approved for.
  • There is also a 'Risk' factor, which they like when you take out a loan. A loan should not be for 'emergency cash' and thus waiting - will help them ensure that it does not become an 'emergency cash' loan. Although, three weeks seems excessive.

When I have a Sainsbury's loan, it was all done by 1st class post (application & Reply)and took around four days - from application to money in the bank. Did you pay more for a courier and a cheque?
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!
  • We phoned them today and they said that we'll receive it by Friday at the latest.
