A Tiny Update!

Another little update:

Hi guys. I was discharged in September 2012 and cleaned up my credit files, I FINALLY got the last creditor to sort out a new mess they had started at the end of Jan. Instead of closing my account after receiving my discharge letter in Sept they opened a brand new line of credit showing a random balance of £100 then defaulted me for Oct, Nov & Dec. I wasnt a happy bunny. It's all been sorted now and I have had a very long letter of apology from the company.

I applied for a Vanquis and was accepted in December, I've used the card for shopping and paid it off in full. My noddle renewed on the 1st of Feb and moved up quite alot since that error was sorted, so I contacted Capital One who have accepted me for one of their credit cards and I've also just got accepted for a contract mobile phone with 02, so everything is looking up.

I'm undecided about what to do with the Vanquis now. Should I cut it up and use the capital one as its more mainstream or keep it for emergencies? I don't need the 2 as the mobile phone contract will be reporting back every month from next month so It will provide the green ticks I need.

I just want to say that anyone going down the road of bankruptcy, its not as bad as you may think and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Its been a great lesson to me. My attitude towards finances and money has done a complete 360 and yours will too ;)

All the Best & thanks for reading!

I can't offer any advice on the CC, sorry, but I didn't want to read and run. Hopefully one of the regulars here will be along later and can give you some good advice.

Look forward to seeing your next positive update.

  • i also was discharged last year and offered a vanquis card. they turned me down on the grounds that i had one in the past.the policy is if you have ever had one in the past and closed it for whatever reason then you wouldnt be allowed one again. strange policy if you ask me
  • Maybe I will keep it open then.
