You'll be suprised by how many properties you find that you love. When looking for my first house I viewed 27 different properties and fell in love with 2 of those completely. There isnt just one house out there for everyone so get your stuff in order and then look for properties (and do not look online until your finances are sorted!!!)

Thanks, I have cooled down a bit. . Decided to keep shopping around.

My finances will be ready in about 3 months' time so I have started looking. There are loads of flats in that area so I now believe I can find the right thing without rushing, you are quite right. If I keep viewing it also helps me to get a feel for the different areas..
