Hi all,
My husband was off Ill last week, full 5 days. He works full time 38hr pw. Company doesn't pay sick pay which we knew. But he's just been paid his ssp off £32 and then a tax refund of £24??? Does this seem right? He's never been off sick before so we know nothing about it. Any information greatly appreciated, many thanks

That looks right - SSP is paid at a rate of £85.85 per week and the first 3 days of sickness are waiting days and aren't paid. He would therefore be entitled to 85.85/5*2 days = £34.34. The tax refund would be because he's on a cumlative tax code and the drop in wages means he's slightly overpaid on his tax so far this year.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thank you very much, that explains it perfectly. No more sick days for him in the future lol
Much appreciated bailey"sealed pot challenge" member 082 6-£450 7 £860 banked :staradmin :staradmin
