Free (legal) Amazing Album - The Crimea

The Crimea are giving away their second album, 'Secrets Of The Witching Hour', as a free download on May 13.

The rising stars are side-stepping convention by letting fans download the release - which features Regina Spektor and production from The Cure's Dave Allen - free of charge.

A CD version will also be for sale on June 4, but the band hopes the wallet-friendly internet version will be the popular choice.

The plan is to forgo the usual sales revenue in the hope of increasing the band's popularity, and then make more money through touring and merchandise revenue.

Thanks - I always like getting free music, especially if it's by artists unfamiliar to me (if I like it, it gives me an excuse to add another item to the list of things to look for in record shops; if I don't, it hasn't cost me anything - a win-win situation!)

Thanks Jim! Downloading now. I normally download my mp3's via Hypem and totally agree that it is a great way of reaching a new audience. I found Imogen Heap via the site and cannot think of how much I have spent on albums and concert tickets.
