I wasn't referring to anything you've commented on peatles. It wasn't yourself that used the term "nightmare"

Banks change their T&Cs as other people have commented. Banking doesn't stay the same, it's a changing industry, I know, I've worked in it for 20 years.

Sorry your not happy with Halifax, all I was saying was from my experience elsewhere with childrens accounts the Halifax seem quite accomodating and offer the same rates/offers to new and existing customers, unlike other banks who don't want to know unless you yourself will bank with them.

If I am not the trustee then how am I able to sign on behalf of my daughter who is 5?

How is it set up? How is she eligible for gross interest?

Eligible for gross interest in the same respect as any minor may be, parent/guardian completes the R85 form.

The rest should be explained when the account is set up, anyone under 16 cannot open an account with Halifax without the controlling adult being there eg parent/grandparent. In fact the minor does not have to be present unless the parent is wanting the minor to operate the account in which case they sign any mandates with the controlling adult.
