Invite spelling mistake rant!!!!

Options
I just want to have a little rant and say how annoyed I am with myself.....

I spelt the word marriage wrong on our evening invites!!!!!!!
How stupid!!!!!

We ordered them on Vistaprint, cost about £30 for 60 which included 7 day delivery (and hopefully will get £5 cashback at some point!)

Have had them for a couple of weeks, OH and I have looked them over several times, my parents have both looked them over and scrutinised them for mistakes, MOH saw them yesterday.... I bought some pens today to see what would be best to write on them with, wrote on one and as I was looking at I realised I had typed marraige!!! I guess at least I spotted it, I'd have probably bitten someones head off if they'd spotted it and not me!

We decided we should order new ones, so have just ordered another 50, cost £26 with the same delivery time and cashback. Just so annoyed with myself, it's money we shouldn't have had to spend!

Ok, rant over!

Have you already ordered? i really wouldn't have thought any guests would think anything of it. Surely you could put the money to something else?

Do vistaprint not have them free at the moment?

If they are ordered, then I hope your guests appreciate the effort you've gone to, I think it's lovely you have changed it as it obviously makes you feel bette.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Yeh I ordered them. We discussed it with my parents and decided we should, and I think it's something would have bugged me for ever if we hadn't corrected it!

I hung around with them in my basket on Vistaprint trying to get a freebie out of them when I initially ordered them, even got in touch with customer service but nothing, and the 40% off invites, offer on 7 day delivery and cashback seemed the best option.

The funniest thing (which my brother pointed out) is that my OH works in QA and has to check that people (such as my brother, who he works with) have done complicated scientific experiments correctly, written their workings out correctly and to the correct standard etc., but he didn't notice this spelling mistake!

On the plus side, my mum got some M&S vouchers from work she had been waiting for and gave us a £25 voucher towards the cake, so I guess that evens it out!

Oh no! We printed ours off yesterday and I must've checked them a million times but I'm still convinced I'm gonna find something wrong. I know I'd be the same as you and have to order them again - I'm too pedantic and it'd drive me mad

  • Anna - at least it was your nan who spotted it before you had sent them all out! I can't help thinking how annoyed I'd be if it wasn't spotted before we sent them out!

Katy - make sure you get a few people to check them over when you get them! Me, OH, my parents and MOH all checked them and scrutinised them for mistakes, and it wasn't until I was writing on them that I saw it - had to double check using the spell check on my phone!!

We now have lots of the wrong ones to trial different pens on, and lots of spare envelopes in case of mistakes - and I often struggle to find an envelope, but shouldn't now!!

Laura -My fiance and I are quite pedantic so hopefully they'll be ok cos they're all printed off and assembled now! Gave them to his immediate family and they haven't spotted anything awry thank God!

  • We re did ours at the weekend and they are now ready to go, disappointed as they dont look as good but they are done. I gave my parents theirs but they hadnt noticed either as they knew the date. Very pleased my nan is the only one with a wrong one!
