Hi all,
This is my first post in this section so go easy on me, I'm fragile and break easy!
My situation is not too bad but it means for the next few years I'm treading on eggshells.
I had a period of self employment a few years back and racked up a £2,700 tax bill that I still haven't paid (I'm not looking for sympathy, I know it's my fault). I also owe Council tax to 2 different local authorities.
I've just spoken to Inland Revenue as I told them I'd be in contact when I started working again (which I did last week). They ran through an income and expenditure form with me and I agreed to pay £150 per month even though my disposable income (after bills etc taken out) is £307.
I'm worried because I'm only on a 3 month contract that can be terminated if I don't impress - I never mentioned this to the tax office.
I have had a court order for £442 for old council tax and have to fill an income and expenditure form in, too. I also owe £100 council tax from last year.
Other than what I have mentioned I have the usual bills of water, gas, electric, council tax, sky (in a contract so I can't cancel), gym, TV licence, rent and travel to work. It seems to me as though I'm working for **** all to be honest! Gotta sort out a budget planner to enable me to cover the basics.
Anyway, just letting you know a little about myself as way of an introduction as I'll be spending some time (at least 18 months according to the tax woman) in these forums!
It does feel good to be finally chipping away at my outstanding debt.
Keyser.
