Wage deduction issues

Hi all, I'm after a bit of advice...if anyone can help that would be great.
I recently had to resign from my position as field technician for personal reasons and was expecting my last wage at the end of January. When no wages turned up in my bank account i started to get concerned so called the company i worked for, they are now claiming they are withholding my money owed because of charges for a customers house (this incident was back in November) where i had drilled into a water pipe. I used a metal detector and it showed it was safe to drill.. This incident was reported to my team leader who never turned up at the house in question on the day of the incident nor did he write up a report about it and there was no investigation into the matter what so ever. But now they are claiming i have to pay for repairs and a carpet and that's why they are witholding my wages owed????? I used all correct tools etc at the customers house so surely i wouldn't all of a sudden be liable for this?? I have thought about going to the CAB but to be honest I don't know if I have a leg to stand on?
It is in my contract that they can deduct my wages, but the issue is can they just assume i was at fault with no proof?
If anymore info is needed please let me know any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Cheers in advance
