new job subject to pre employment checks

Im not a financial genius at all so please bear with me.
I have been offered a new job as a sales/ customer service role inbound for a large insurance group in a contact center.
Ive filled out all the forms etc for them to carry out the checks one of them is CRB and the other is references. The one im most worried to death about is the credit check....
So I have a contract phone which I have had a few late payments on (been cut off twice). And I have an open littlewoods account with nothing to settle but again when I had goods there were late payments. I have settled all of them now and only my phone bill which is now DD.
Im worried these serveral late payments will make me fail the credit check. I have been on equifax to get a credit score and its poor but all of it is ok ie up to date.
From the reading I have done on this it is more concerned about Bankruptcy and CCJs of which I have none.
Can someone put my mind at ease? or worrry me slightly?

Personally I have been involved with issues like this a few years ago.
My partner missed alot of her old mobile phone bills when she was in Austrailia so it kept bouncing as she honestly forgot about it.
Came back to the UK to get a job at a Bank and they said the job was subject to the above but nothing ever came back and she got the job no problem.
I personally wouldnt worry about it as its something small it would be different if it was £1000s....0 -
Thanks highlander!
Still worried though!
Might give them a call tomorrow and speak to them about what would fail a credit check for them!0 -
No problem.
Well that could do 1 of 2 things.
1 - they might appreciate the honesty and tell you not to worry about it nothing will happen.
2 - It might give them a reason to look in depth into what you have said.
What type of company is it if you don't mind me asking?0 -

I think they will be looking for CCJ's/bankruptcy and possibly defaults.
I guess it depends on what type of credit check and I doubt late payments will fail you the check.Bad luck breeds bad luck.
Damn I'm doomed.0 -
It is usually just for bankruptcy and CCJ's don't worry0

Have you started employment? I can't tell you what to do but if your not in an audited or bank role don't get yourself too worked up
I am in a far worser position financial then you trust me! and found myself get stewed and stressed for absolutely nothing it turned out quite recently on the subject of one of these "employee personal credit check" after I had started a new job - the happy ending is even with a mini form of bankrupcy I'm still in employment... so to is one of my co-workers with council tax arrears... so to is the one trying to dig themselves out of a hole on a regular basis with OT, see we're really not alone or unique in these situations! thank god.
I've not had security escort me out yet to enjoy a 'holiday on the state' all because I once had debt I needed help with! (just joking seriously think about it what would happen if you were left with no job!)0 -
I too am in a very similar situation, previously bottled a job interview due to the fact a credit check was required...have today had a letter offering me another interview as position as come up again...tempted to go along and just see how it goes this time however have been in a DMP with payplan since July.
one thing that really shocked me recently was I needed to change BT account over to business line...needed static ip for current contract, and was advised a credit check would be performed to which I very nearly cried lol however the check went though no problem and all went without a hitch...weird, anyway I hope all goes ok have you heard any more about the job?LBM April 2012.... DMP with Payplan July 2012DFD March 2018 :j0 -
well ive read that its mainly CCJ's and bankrupcy that they are after. SO having neither of them or debt management things i should be okay! Im not a saint in my credit past. I am trying to be good now- only phone bill is technically now credit!
Shall wait and see!
Ill let you guys know.
What depresses me though is that I have been offered and accepted this job. ALOT more money to me than my now wage. I have also handed my notice in at work. So working my notice currently. I start on the 18th in this role providing this is okay.
I just hope I dont end up jobless
