Money Saving Madness

I'm on a roll and looking to save money wherever I can. I've had a letter from the benefits people to say my income isn't going to change this year, and another from the council saying council tax and housing benefits are going down and you can bet your life that my other outgoings are going to rise if I do nothing! :(

Last week I received my motor insurance renewal. I phoned around for other quotes, then phoned my insurer who not only matched the best quote but bettered it, saving me £48 for the year.

This week I've had the renewal from GEM for breakdown cover, so phoned them too. My renewal was for more than I saw they are offering on their website so they've reduced my renewal to the same as the offer saving me £16 for the year. :T

My BT Broadband has been discounted for almost 12 months so today I got in early before the discount ends. After searching the internet for prices of other providers, I phoned BT saying if they couldn't offer me another discount I would be going elsewhere. Instead of the monthly rate going up by £10.85 when the discount stops, it'll now go down by £4.60. A total saving of 15.45 a month (£185.40 a year)! :j

Unfortunately that won't work with water rates, rent or council tax but it has eased things a little
