I think its ok providing you dont lie.
For example just leaving it off a CV is fine but if they give you an employment questionnaire and it has on it 'highest level of education' then you must tick degree.0 -
Yup never lie, but if they don't ask you don't have to tell.0

Leaving your degree off your CV is lying, and you would need to explain the 2 year gap in your CV, why leave it off you have worked hard getting the degree and should be proud of getting it.
How many people currently with a degree work in stores I guessing there a quite a few and who says you wont progress with the company.0 -

Hi, I am not entirely sure if it would be lying, perhaps omitting and perhaps lying by omission but I wouldn't call it a lie. I would not be comfortable with lying.
Also, I actually worked for 2 and a half years at University (think it was mentioned in my first post) otherwise it would be completely out of the question for me to leave it off my CV.
The reason I want to leave it off is I have applied for over 1,000 jobs and heard back from two. I think people think I may only stay for a short period of time until I have found something else.0 -
People assume a CV must be a 'historic record of your education and jobs' - it's not - it's a piece of marketing material designed to give you the best chance to get a job.Leaving your degree off your CV is lying, and you would need to explain the 2 year gap in your CV, why leave it off you have worked hard getting the degree and should be proud of getting it.

If having a degree on a CV doesn't help, there's no point adding it. If it's detrimental - definitely remove it.
I don't put that I have a 20m swimming badge, onto my CV. It's not lying - it's just not relevant. Omission isn't lying0 -
I suspect that even in these difficult times if 1000 jobs have been applied for and only two employers have responded, the degree may not be the problem..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

no it isn't and no you don't0 -
I regularly leave my degree and my a levels off my cv if it's a job that doesn't require them. You should tailor make your cv to suit the job you are applying for at the time. The job I've been in in the last 4 years was got with a cv that didn't have my degree on it and thats as the manager of a charity. In fact, I don't think I've ever got a job on the strength of having a degree. Which then begs the question why did I bother. I think practical work experience and common sense is more interesting to an employer.0
