Does anyone else get really p|ssed off at the amount of email spam we have to deal with nowadays? I get about 300 per day!:mad::mad:

You should be able to filter it out - I rarely if ever actually see any spam. I use gmail.0
-
yes, it does my head in, I have a business email address that I only give out to contacts and never signup for anything using it - still get loads of spam in that, and because the filters are now so strict I need to check the spam folder because sometimes a legit email goes in there, kinda defeats the purpose of the filters! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If you ever put that email on a webpage then it will have been picked up by spambots.0

I don't - I only have the catch all one on the website (but with text for the at and dot) which does get a horrific amount! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I was just browsing my spam folder and came across this one which I sent there manually.Good afternoon
My name is Ellen Russell and I am a member of the Society of Certified Etiquette Trainers and a Certified Business and Teenage Etiquette Trainer.
My qualifications are: MSc.Int. Psych., BSc. (Hons)., P.G.D.G.C., Dip.CPC., Cert.Ed.
Please take a look at my website (I've removed spam link) for one of the most interesting and affordable Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses available. These etiquette courses will provide you with between 4 and 6 hours of CPD. Each course which is packed full of valuble information will cost you £3.99 to download and if you would like the CPD certificate the marking fee is £35.00.
If you do not wish to use the courses for CPD they are an asset to any business or individual as I have combined my 25 years expertise as a psychotherapist with the most up to date information on modern etiquette.
I guarantee the courses will not only raise your confidence and self-esteem but also increase your personal and professional profile.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Ellen Russell
Now that really is ironic - a spammer offering a business etiquette course.

Spambots will be smart enough to rebuild that into an email for sure. The only way to get email from a website is via a form with no reference on the page to the actual email at all. The spammers will still try sales@ info@ the domain name and others similar too though. I only set up my domains to forward specific emails rather than use a catchall.0 -
I'm certainly finding a considerably greater amount of spam in my business email inbox since the start of the year. All the spammers seem to have started 2013 with renewed vigour !!
Yes I do apply filters, but as the_r_sole says, if you apply them too rigorously they filter out stuff you do want too, so then you spend half your life trawling thru the junk for an email someone sent you that you do need.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
You can blame your contacts and youself for most of this, if you send them ANYTHING that is likely to get forwarded, or they forward stuff to you and others in the to list without BCC, then it would only need 1 person to get contaminated and their emails adresses are harvested, you are on the spam list.
Why writers of mail software do not do the obvious and make BCC automatic, and if it sees a long TO list, and if it sees email addresses in the message it should warn you to edit.0 -
When you are in business like me and you have had several email addresses for several years spam is almost inevitable and spam filters are not 100% accurate. If you are in business you have to check your spam folder daily to ensure that no valid emails have been pushed in there."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0

Also, default use of BCC is not a good idea in business where it often necessary for recipients to see who else has received the email."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0 -
LOL.
When you're a private individual like me, and you've had the same letterbox for several years, spam is almost inevitable and spam filters are not 100% accurate. If you don't want to miss what might be an important communication you have to check all the crap addressed to the "home-owner" as well.
Bl**dy businesses huh?0
