Hi all can a joint loan be split between both people, if so would it be based on how the original loan format was made. And how would i go about it.

I would contact the bank/building society that you got the loan from in the 1st place.

It may well be different across the board.

  • Ive already attempted to contact HSBC they ignored all of my letters before it was passed to a collection company. Im going to make a complaint to them first andif I dont get a reply in 7 days am taking things further with the financial omnibusmen. So dont think a gonna get anywhere with them.
    cheers

If you've got a loan in joint names it's probable that you are "jointly and severally liable", in other words the bank can demand payment from either or both of you. They would be likely to pursue the one who is most likely to pay.
