this is not to do with winning but where prizes are based. I live in the south west & we rarely have any local prizes such as tickets or chances to see films or meals out etc

things like concerts are often so far away it costs an obscene amount to travel.

I notice that Yorkshire, Midlands, Edinburgh & Glasgow seem to have loads of local comps - don't get me started on London

Funny you should mention Bristol - it seems to me there have been quite a few Bristol-based prizes recently, perhaps the grass is always greener elsewhere? The boards also seem to be full of holidays in Devon & Cornwall with no transport costs, which would cost me several hundred pounds (and a full day's travel) to get to, much as I'd love a holiday down there.

I think some of it is about where companies are based - Edinburgh & Glasgow for instance get prizes because they have radio stations & even a TV station based there, so that's often where the prizes come from. Also the Scottish tourist board (VisitScotland) runs a lot of comps.

I take it you've had a look at whatever south west tourist organisations, radio stations etc. there might be? It's always possible there are loads of comps and it's just that they're not posted here.

Of course it's possible that there just aren't enough gamblers in the SW for companies down there to run comps

only thing we really have hear (newcastle) is the metro centre comps
