do i need a kindle

I've currently started to read more, i've got the kindle app on my galaxy tab 2, my computer and my phone. All are synced so any books i download go straight to all three.
I'm enjoying getting back into reading and have during the day been using the tab2, and sometimes my mobile, but i find the back light very harsh on both, even when i set them low.
I've some christmas money left and want to treat myself, so my daughter suggested i get a kindle, she loves heres.

She has got this one,

Kindle Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display it's £69 at tesco at the moment.

she said it doesn't have a back light, which at 1st she was dissapointed by, buy got a small light from poundland which does the trick. I'm not that bothered about reading in bed, so don't think a back light would bother me, plus it's more money.

So do i buy one, or am i wasting my money and just stick with my tablet.

I have a knidle and a tablet with the App.

I use the kindle when outside, on the beach, etc.
I use the Tablet when reading at night.

I do not NEED my kindle, but in certain areas in is much better than using a tablet.

The Kindle comes into its Glory when reading in bright lit areas as you dont get any reflections or glare from it. That was their major selling point as many people find reading a tablet/phone etc which is backlit can give headaches after a period of time.

As you point out, the Kindle lite is now £69 which is a bargain but you could also look out for a 2nd hand one as many people are upgrading to the Kindle HD.

I never thought I'd want an ebook reader, but, after using the android app on my smartphone for a while took the plunge and bought the model the OP describes. Unfortunately it died on me last week, whilst it only took Amazon 24hrs to replace it, it was a long boring evening without it.

You could try using the black or sepia options when reading, I use black at night and sepia during the day on my Tab 2 as well as turning the brightness down.

If using a tablet or Ipad Mini for e-reading, you can always buy an anti-glare screen protector to make it easier to read in sunlight.

well i'm stumped, i can't find how to change the settings. and i know it's going to be real easy when i find out

Tap the page in the middle and some options drop down, click on "Aa" and then just choose which option you want. Can also adjust the brightness there too.

I love my e-reader and find it better for intensive reading than a lit screen, although as above opinions are divided.

If you can make do with what you have for the moment (or even heaven forbid paper books!) Then this might be of interest (which will retail at about $10 in the US & probably £10/euros too ) -

I've been on the waiting list for ages but folded and went for the kobo mini instead (due to full bookshelves and the ever increasing pile of books by my bed.)
