I was exhausted just reading your post FRUGAL. I used to keep a reasonably clean and tidy house, until.......I became a cleaner myself. Since then my house has gone to rack and ruin. I just cannot face doing it after spending 6-7 hours a day cleaning private houses and then going out to do a 1 and a 1/2 hour cleaning job either early morning or evening.
So that is on average 7/8 and a half hours cleaning every day and I even clean on a Saturday morning.
I even find it hard to do the flylady 15 minute challenge - but I do think I am a special case!:DGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Flippin heck. I think it's amazing what you achieve but I'm a bit of a slob at heart and don't know how half of you manage to do all the things you do on here.
How do you find time for it all?Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
What an interesting thread!
Frugal, I was glad to read you've cut down a little, and enjoyed a bit more free time
I work full time, so don't even scratch the surface of your list. OH hoovers, once a week - and we have two cats. I do the kitchen and bathroom once a week (ish), but do try to wipe the bathroom daily, and I literally mean wipe, while I'm brushing my teeth, no time/effort involved. OH tends to keep the kitchen tidy, if not I'll try to give it a once over often - I get this from my mum I think, can't stand a messy kitchen - it doesn't have to be spotless, just tidy and clean enough.
Windows, when they are filthy. Garden, when I feel motivated. Anything else when the mood strikes!
The only thing I am usually on top of is the washing, when the washing is all done (for a matter of hours before there's more ) I do actually feel a sense of satisfaction. When it's hot I'll store up a couple of loads of sheets, and one or two of towels, and get it all done and line-dried on one day - sad isn't it, I really enjoy that
Going to be a SAHM when baby is born in October. I don't expect to do (much) more in the way of cleaning, but do want to make more of an effort with cooking - I am blaming pregnancy way too much but we've been resorting to expensive M&S food a bit too much lately. Yes I am tired, generally, but not to the point where I can't throw some pasta together or something on toast. Lazy :rolleyes:0 -
I think I,m a very dirty girl now, I do try but not very hard. Did think about joining the flylady gang but just reading it left me exhuasted. my homes not a health hazard (yet) but really really should be tidier, i,m on my own in the house, but have visitors a lot. I seem to make a run at it all of a sudden then get too bored with it. I dont think women who do housework are boring, I marvel at how much they get done in a few hours, but dusting inside wardrobes, no will never happen in here:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
Well except mastered my mortgage 5 yrs early :T:j

I have a weekly routine but it's totally flexible...if I am too pooped (I work full time)/can't be bothered/doing other stuff it wll get left until the following day but in general I ...
Everyday
Wipe kitchen down
Sweep and mop kitchen, halls and utility room (canne stand them dog hairs)
Vac the lounge (again a dog hair thing)
And everything else gets a good going over weekly
Monday - Bedrooms & bedding
Tuesday - Lounge
Wednesdays - upstairs bathroom & hallway
Thursday - Kitchen
Friday - utility room & computer room
Saturday - down stairs bathroom
Sunday - day of rest or gardening if I fancy it
My OH (who works full time) is in charge of the lawn, the shed and the garage...and that's coz he is one messy bum and I dont have to see the garage and shed on a daily basis.0 -
cor blimey in a way im envious but id never do as much as you do! even if i had a really clean week. I used to dust, hoover and quick tidy everyday with a big clean every friday but now i hoover about once a week, dust once a week and just try to keep on top of the washing and dishes. Your almost like a bit of a desperate housewife on paper hehe - Bri (sp?). Nothing wrong with being house proud though, i think anyone who slags you off for it would be emvious of your house if they visited and secretly wish their house could be that tidy so often0

Frugal - I am in awe of your cleaning routine. I would love to be as organised (and as motivated!) as you. My ambition is to be a housewife (sorry to all those who think that makes me a dull person...!!:o) but even I know that if I was at home all day, I would not be able to motivate myself to do as much as you do - I would love a sparkly, 100% clean home, but I know that I would not clean out my drawers every week or dust the inside of my wardrobes. I willingly admit that I am envious, though - I would love to live in your house (and so would Mr P!) so if you are on the lookout for lodgers...;)
In the meantime, I am willing to raise the stakes in the G&T department - come and "visit" my house for me and I'll make ice cubes and slice you a lemon!:p
