Arnold Clark finance Early completion fee

I am having a problem with Arnold Clarks Finance, which is through Fortis Lease UK.
I bought my car at Arnold Clarks in Shields Road, Motherwell 2 1/2 years ago.
I had a price after trade in arranged with the salesman.
Due to this, i had been to my bank to cost the loan.
I went back to the salesman and told him i wanted to go ahead and was paying a deposit.
I told him i was arranging a loan with my bank, but he asked how much i was to pay per month, so i told him.
He got a price through his finance, which was only £2 per month more expensive, and i could get my new car sooner, as a bank could take a week or 2 to go through, so i went ahead with his finance deal..
He informed me of a final completion fee of £298, but he told me in the presence of my wife that as long as I paid it off even a month before the final payment I wouldn't have to pay this, but now I've asked for an early settlement figure with 6 payments left, and i am still being charged the settlement fee of £298.

Fortis Lease UK say that they have had loads of complaints about this tactic.
They say its a final completion fee and must be paid.

I would never have taken out this agreement knowing it was going to cost me hundreds more than my bank.

I have been to Arnold Clarks in Motherwell to complain about being mis sold a finance agreement, but it fell on deaf ears saying we wouldnt do that, and that their salesman is the top salesman in the store.
My question to you is, Does anyone know the best way to complain and fight this?

Problem is the agreement you signed, trumps all
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Hardly miss sold if it is in the agreement.

The problem is believing a used car salesman..... you must have been particularly unlucky to stumble on a dishonest one trying to get finance commission rather than advising you to get a loan elsewhere.

I have had x2 cars from them, they try and play you for a runt but just have to be one step ahead of them. Their prices are good though

One of the fringe benefits about this board is you see the same company names coming up time and time again.

I've never bought from Arnie C nor am I ever likely too, purely because of posts like yours.

I have bought a number of cars from Arnold Clark because generally that is where the best deals often are.

I don't buy from them to get good customer service and they can't provide that.

If you want to take finance off them then expect to pay whatever the T&C's dictate - if the T&C's make no mention of avoiding the final payment fee then that will be the case.

The sales guys are out to make money - the trick is to minimise what they make, not give them presents like finance commission.
