(I'm not quite sure if this counts as a freebie, since there is a spend involved - feel free to move my post somewhere more appropriate if I'm wrong...)
If you sign up to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) using one of the forms in Wetherspoons pubs at the moment, they'll send you £20 in real ale vouchers to spend at any Wetherspoons pub.
If you pay by direct debit, it costs £20 to join for 15 months. But if you're under 26 or over 60, there's a discounted rate of £11.
The leaflets ought to be in their pubs during their nationwide real ale festival, which lasts till Monday, and half the form - minus the direct debit part of it - is available at http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/offers/2007real-ale-festival/download-camra-form.jpg

And it all helps to keep it real sending out a message to the brewers and pubs that consumers demand quality not the filtered, pasturised and bland nonsense they heavily market to maximise their profits“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Give them £20 and they give you £20 in vouchers? So they want you to spend £20 in advance. No thanks.GONE ENGLAND0

Thats up to you, however for your membership you will also get big discounts for beer festivals and on their publications including the Good Beer Guide. You also get their monthly magazine Whats Brewing which is worth the subscription fee in itself. And of course it all helps to keep standards high in the brewing trade, where there tends to be so much complacency.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -

everybody's so pedantic on these boards, getting their post counts up just by shooting people down.
I think it's a great offer, cheers teflon!0 -
I really appreciate this. I can barely stand the frozen, fizzy chemical muck that passes for beer so must give credit to Wetherspoon for giving this choice (though i gather their food is less appetizing). I think it's a great offer and will be signing up0

I'm not sure if this applies to Wetherspoons in Northern Ireland too. If it does, then it's not a case of spend £20 to get £20, for me it'd be spend £11 to get £20 which works out pretty well for me.0
