Recruitment Agencies

Hi All,

I've no real experience with RA's, however I've been contacted by 2 separate agencies regarding possible jobs, they've given me some good advice on tinkering my CV and they've obviously promoted the job really well. I've secured 2 interviews, however my question is do such agencies put masses through to the interview stage or is it more selective?

If it's an interview with the client company then no, they are unlikely to put more than 6 candidates forward per vacancy.

If it's to be interviewed by the agency, they will interview most candidates who apply (if they meet certain criteria).

Thanks, it's with the company; I was a bit surprised as I've no relationship built up with either recruitment agency.

It depends on a number of factors. We use multiple agencies and they get paid bucket loads to provide a service to us which is to find the best candidates for the job not simply forward every CV they can possibly find.

As such, I would only expect to receive 1-2 CVs per agency which represents their best candidates. If those are unsuccessful I would feedback why which is as much for the agency's benefit and then expect the next couple to come through based on their better understanding of my requirements.

Where there is a single agency involved then the number of CVs may be a bit higher but they still have to add value by filtering the applicants before the CVs hit my desk
