Hi thhere guys,
Well i thought i would get started and be in with a chance! Been reading some of the posts about how much time to spend on entering and it seems you have to enter a lot and keep plugging away to win! I suppose there are so many people entering these days.
What do people think is a reasonable ammount of time to spend entering comps? and how long before a first win have people had to wait?!

I started entering "seriously" around the start of December (advent comps). I ran out of enthusiasm before long (there were just SO many of them!) and cut back on how many I entered.
I won a couple of things on the Pringles advent almost straight away, but my first win on a non-advent competition (a pepsi t shirt) was in January and if you look at my signature, I've had four wins since the start of January.
While I am having my morning wake up cuppa, I go through the first two pages on the competitions forum, marking them as I go, and then at night, while I am watching TV or browsing other stuff, I then sort the forum into "thread title", "ascending" and "from the last 100 days", find the ones ending the next day (i.e. tonight, I have entered - or skipped! - all the competitions ending 06/02) and go through them all.
Overall, probably an hour and a half a night.
Oh dear, having written that down, I think I might be a tad addicted :rotfl:

well yes an hour and a half is not too bad!
Anyway in terms of entering comps i have been mainly using this site but also one called competitors companion. After reading about it on here i looked up prizefinder but did not like that it seems to have a huge ammount of adverts and a lot of survay related comps. Have been entering the ITV comps as much as possible and oh how we would all love to win one of those big ones!
Can i console myself that there is at least more chance of winning a competition than the lottery??!0 -

To do as you are doing will increase your risk of duplicating entries unless you keep separate records.
Most comps are on here :-)0 -
fair point. i notice alot of the comps on here are face book or twitter which i dont really want to do. i dont suppose there is a way to filter the board to omit these?0

does anyone ever feel like there is a certian sense of Karma about winning a competition? Like it will come out of the blue and cheer you up or you will be making things happen yourself then a competition win comes along to help out. I mean what a difference an ITV win would make to clearing a credit card!
Anyway who am i to talk i am plugging away at the very start so unlikely to win anything for a good few months going on what i have read!0 -
You never know. Probably a lot of the comps you enter won't finish for a while, but some will end quickly. You have as much chance as anyone of winning.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

And more of a chance than those that haven't entered
The best way is to not expect wins, that you're only comping to fill time or something. That way when the wins come in, it's even more of a nice surprise, especially the unannounced onesGolly, I've got the newt pregnant...
