I think you're right not to stick anything on without LL's permission as it would almost certainly leave a mark and remove some paint.
If you can get a telescopic rod (assume it's like for shower curtains) that wedges in to hang a curtain on then that sounds great. Those fleece throws that are cheap in Primark etc are good for that.
Another idea whould be to put a hem in the top of a throw/blanket and thread with elastic looped at each end. Screw two cuphooks into the side of the door frame (so not on a front facing surface) to attach the elastic. You can remove the screws come summer/when you leave. I've got a similar arrangement (but on the outside) for hanging my holly wreath at Christmas rather than make any holes in the door itself and no one notices the holes from year to year!!0
