I Went into WHS today to buy a gift and chose a WHSmith Eastern Collection A5 Journal Gold (actually beige colour), with decorative beading on cover. It was actually priced at £7.49 on the shelf but had a tag of £9.99. It was not marked as 'reduced, special offer' or anything like that. I went to the cash desk and asked the assistant to price it - it came up at 99p! The sales assistant said it was probably one of their discontinued range - I went and I got another one, the last one on the shelf, it also came up at 99p. I don't know if it's the same in all stores but worth a try (the assistant gave the impression that they are reducing a number of discontinued lines).
