Hi
Have they written to you with details of your outstanding debt?
Who was your loan provided by originally? Have you had a letter from original creditor to tell your that this debt collector is now dealing with your debt?
I would write to them with your offer of payment and ask them to provide you with their bank details so you can set up a standing order. Do not give them your bank card details, and do not agree to set up a direct debit to them.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi,
Never had any debts owned by or assigned to CRS.
Make your official offer in writing and let them officially accept in writing. You have done an in depth analysis of your budget and made sure the payment plan is affordable yeah?
Edit: Beaten to the post - lol - And definitely, as Tixy says - make your monthly payments by Standing Order (don't give them any of your card or bank account details)I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

I am currently paying a debt to them and they have no problem with standing orders. However, they do not appear to want to answer my emails at the moment to get a statement (so I can do an F&F) and I have no wish to ring them.0

yes had afew letters from them , the orginal loan was fr barclays was paying them a payment of 60 per month but then they decided they would hand the debt to crs so no i havent had a letter from barclays ,but because the orginal payment was 196 per month when it was with barclays i became ill so couldnt afford this payment so spoke to them and they agreed this would be ok but each month there was 136 in arrears so by the time crs took over the debt it was up to 1,000 when i changed my phone provider i had no contact with them because i refused to give them my number and have been speaking to a guy called chris who said he could sell the car for me i told him he has no claim on my car and i need it for hospital plus car is only worth about 2,500 i have worked out paying them 80 will take me about 7 years to pay of which is abit gutting really if i had not got my cancer 6 months after i got the loan in 2008 the car would of been paid for in april what a bloody mess x0 -
You mention a car - was this a loan secured on a vehicle or a personal unsecured loan?
Best way is to keep everything in writing and to just sticking to paying what you can afford.
If the debt collector hassles you to pay more than you can afford / suggests you borrow from other places to pay them or similar then you can write to complain and quote the relevant section of the OFT debt collection guidelines - see here - UPDATED OFT Guidance on Debt Collection - READ IF YOU ARE BEING HASSLED UNFAIRLYA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

You may find they won't agree to put in writing that they have agreed with your repayment proposal.
Better to start by ensuring you have put something in writing to them to state how much you can afford.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
