Children around 3 years old sweetie help

I am busy buying the sweets for the favours, we have the adults (mini love hearts with personalised wrappers) and some of the kids but I'm now stuck.

We are doing cellophane bags for the children with an assortment of sweets. We have a couple of children who are around a year, a couple who are around 3 and then the rest are between 6 and 13.

For the children around a year we are giving them: milky bar, magic stars, white buttons and an animal bar.

For the older children (6-13): maoam chews, double lollies, mini chupa chup lollies, mini bags of harribo and love hearts

But what should I get for the children around 3? It's been so long since my little girl was that age I can't remember what she could have. I was thinking mini love hearts, a chuppa chup lolly (not the mini ones), mini haribo and a couple of other things but not sure what they could be.

What else could we put in? I would like another 2 items, preferably wrapped.

Any advice would be great

  • Someone else on here commented a little while ago that they chose not to have lollies at their wedding as they didn't want young ones falling over with them in their mouths, which might be worth considering.

OH's nephew is 3 and I know he loves chocolate and yoghurt covered raisins as well as just plain ones, but not sure how easy they'd be to go in a sweet bag - I guess the plain ones would be OK as most supermarkets sell them in small boxes.

Maybe a chocolate similar to the younger ones would be good?

I hadn't even considered them running/falling with them in their mouths :o

I though raisins but I wan't sure how many kids eat them, no matter how hard I tried Anya would never eat them. Think I'll stick a box of rasins in and a couple of little chocolate bars too.

    Thanks Laura :D
  • I wouldn't have considered it either if someone else had not commented on it before!

I know what you mean about raisins, I'm not sure if he had the choc coated ones first then went onto normal ones, but then again he will eat pretty much everything he's given!

Oooh what about Jelly Tots? Aren't they quite kiddy friendly? Not sure what kind of size the packets are though!

Aww, I love jelly tots, I had completely forgotten about them. I'm not too bothered about the size really. I could put them in with a milky way and the other sweets (minus the lolly) and that's them sorted too.

    Thank you :T
  • the kind of things my ds of that age likes are marshmallows or flumps, some sweet laces, chocolate mice, flying saucers & candy sticks (the ones in little boxes that look like white cigarettes) HTH

I would try to stick to non-chocolatey sweets if you can, the children will be much easier to keep clean and if they carry the bags around with them they may end up with a chocolate mush having held it in the warm hands for a while.

I wouldnt have lollies or boiled sweets that they could choke on - i choked on one when i was a kid - not good.
  • The fruit string things reminded me of Fruit winders, my DD used to love them when she was younger, think I'll pick a pack of them up next time I'm shopping.

I was a litttle put off on the chocolate, keep thinking pretty dresses and chocolate don't mix well so may just put on piece of choclate in. I like the idea of smarties as if i remeber correctly they were no where near as messy as bars.

Think I'll skip the lollies for the older ones too, although I would like to think they have more sense, I can only speak for my own and know that generally sense disappears when every one else is having fun.

I'm going to stick with chocolate for the two who are younger than 3 (I think one will be a year and the other 18 months - 2). The parents will probably take theirs home (or eat it themselves), I just don't want them left out IYKWIM.

    So my plan now:

    Under 3:
Animal bar, Milky bar, majic stars and white buttons (will check with the parents first though).

Under 6 (I actually think they are around 4):
Mini love hearts, haribo, fruit winder, jelly tots or smarties

    Over 6:
Maoam, mini love hearts, haribo and refeshers or similar.

Then I'll just pick up little bits as i see them like the candy sticks.

    Thanks for all your advice
