Looking for a floppy hat sewing pattern

I'm thinking of making DS (5) a floppy hat for the summer. Anyone know where I can get a pattern or instructions from? Preferably free of course, or is it too much of a faff and it'd be easier to buy one?

This method probably calls for knowing a bit about sewing:

Draw round your iron, and cut out the 'pattern'. From memory, 6 of these fit an adult head. If you're not short of fabric, cut out 6 (can be in 6 different fabrics) and pin them together with all the points meeting to form the crown. Adjust the seams to fit a smaller head, then sew. You will also need to adjust the distance from the crown to the base. Be careful not to make it too tight - floppier is better.

Fold the hat in half as flat as possible, then use the circle that the base makes as a guide for a brim. Cut 2 brims, sew them together along the wider edge, turn through, press, and then sew the top edge of the brim (which will be two layers) to the bottom of the main hat. You could of course make a single layer brim, but then you have to neaten the bottom edge. You can also improve the finish by making a lining for the main hat, by making up another 6 sections.

Or, re-reading this to see if I can explain it better, you could buy one!

The aim is to reproduce the base plate as a paper pattern.Draw from the point down about 6 ins on either side, then draw a line across.
