My facebook is private..are my like and shares still valid?

Hello, just wondering if I " Like ", " Like and Share " and/or comment on a facebook page for a competition, is it still valid if I have my facebook profile private i.e the competitions I've " liked " are not visible to anyone but myself. Can I still win a competition this way or must I make them " public "? Many thanks.
p.s.......where is the ! Thank You " button?

I think they have to be public or they won't know you have shared

Yeah they have to be public otherwise whoever you've liked wont be able to see you've liked them or shared their page.
So your entry will not be counted.

Yes, you have to make them public.

The 'thank you' button is the blue button with the green tick in it that says 'thanks', just below the text in the body of users' posts.

Oh dear! Thanks for your replies I've missed out on some facebook competitions then cos I've kept them private! Good job I asked on this forum....many thanks

p.s...I've found the " thank you " button....I wasn't logged-on before so I couldn't see it!

Just wanted to check something myself..... presumably this only counts with like and share comps - my FB is private but I only use apps. I presume I'm OK with this as I have won a few times so presume in this case private is OK?

would guess that apps are OK unless they make sharing the comp a condition of entry

Thanks for asking softpad as I'm the same - I only ever do apps and my fb is private. Also, on the ones where a box pops up after the entry form asking you to share on your wall, I never do. I've never won on facebook so was hoping this doesn't mean I'm not entered!

This!!

I used to do a few of the like/share ones but only ever set them to "Only Me" as I thought that would still show up as a share, but somebody put me straight on that one a while back. I wasn't prepared to start sharing things to public, number one I am very wary of FB privacy at the best of times, but number two I am Loath to spam my friends' news feeds with comp after comp!!!! So I only ever do the App comps now on FB, and I never click share afterwards. Not that I've ever won a thing on FB so far, but am still hoping....
