    Hello,

I currently have a company car and am also in the 40% tax rate. I have the option to have a car allowance of £450 and wonder how much better off i would be if i took the car allowance?

I already have my own car aswell so would not be looking to finance, buy another etc in the short term.

    Thanks

We need the detail. Impossible to help otherwise.

What is the list price when new of the car, what fuel does it use, what are it's CO2 emissions? How many miles will you drive for business and how many for private? Does your employer pay you "per mile" for business journeys if you use your own car? Will your employer pay all fuel for the company car?
  • Hello,

Thanks for the reply, its £22000 new and a VW Golf Bluemotion Diesel. C02 is 99 g/km. Jan 2015 to Jan 2016 i did 18,000 miles in the car. I also have my own car that i own and did around 8,000 in that. Business mileage is around 900 - 1000 a month then personal for weekends around 300 per month maximum. If i use the company car or my own car its paid at 12p per mile. If i were to use my own car then i would to submit a P87 to claim the 12p - 45p mileage back.

You mention you do 18,000 miles in the company car and 8,000 miles in your own car so total of 26,000
    Business miles 1000 month = 12,000
    Personal miles 300 per month = 3,600

total miles accounted for 15,600....missing 10,400!
  • Thats the mileage on the company car, the mileage on the other car of 8,000 is mainly personal.
  • i Found other website as well named certax london their calculator is also working good

    Thank
