How to Sell Diamond Jewellery?

Wonder if anyone could help me.
A few years ago I was bought some some diamond and gold jewellery from India - a pair of earrings and a pendant. The earrings were bought for £300 and valued in England at £900 and the pendant was bought for £500 but is probably worth a few thousand although I haven't had it valued yet.
The trouble is that I no longer want them as they were bought for me by someone that I had a serious fall out with and so they hold bad memories for me.
What is the best way of selling these do you think? I am concerned that if I were to sell them on eBay someone could remove the diamonds, replace them with fakes or diamonds of a lesser value and then try to say that what I sent them wasn't what they paid for - or am I just an old cynic?
Does anyone have any advice? It seems a bit of a shame for them to sit in a draw, someone else might as well get some pleasure out of them and it would be nice to raise a little extra cash.
Thanks for any help.

Some high street jewellers buy second hand jewelry but I think its fair to say you will only get a small percentage of their worth. You may do well to get second piece valued and then put in a specialist auction- you can then set a reserve. Alternatively try selling privately with a small ad.0

Personally I'd look for a private auction house as well, there are loads all round the country. The selling fees are pretty steep (they make ebay look cheap) but you'll have the protection that the auction house will handle the money side of things.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
