Apologies if this has been posted before, but I've just discovered that Oxfam have some dedicated bridal shops around the country, which mostly stock brand-new dresses donated by designers. They reckon the average cost of one of their dresses is around £250. What a fab idea - hope someone finds this useful!

The Bracknell branch started off as having really old-fashioned stock, as part of their 'costumes' department, but this has flourished and I am amazed at the quality you can now get. Really beautiful dresses and huge amount to choose from.:wall:0

I once did fundraising for british heart foundation in a wedding dress and veil from their stock, it was a rediculous floaty number with more beads and pearls than you could shake a stick at :rotfl: :rotfl: two friends also joined in, one in a ball gown and one as the "groom" in a tux and top hat! We raised over £1000 selling rose brooches in a local shopping centre. However, it was not the most fasionable of weding dresses! They do sometimes have the odd gorgeous one in though, it's always worth a look
I occaisionally buy them to dye and use for formal wear.
