My advice would be to re start slowly by introducing 1 new dish per week. It can be a daunting prospect to launch into it every night.

Thanks for all your ideas. Definitely think I need to start doing menu planning, maybe incorporating a couple of new meals each week. MAY ask the kids to contribute some ideas!

Why not take a family fave ingredient & try to find a new recipe for it - I found 'Pork in stout with pepper ' (think that was the name) -a Antony Worral Thompson recipe on Saturday kitchen - thats a good programme for inspiration usually - so is the BBC's food website I think
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

Think the problem (mainly) is that there are so many likes and dislikes in the family childwise:mad: . DDs like chicken but aren't fans of any other meat, 1 DS is pretty good and will try most things (and hes the youngest), whereas 17 year old DS is really difficult, doesn't like most things and tbh is quite underweight (more worry). He prefers plainish stuff and doesn;'t like anything 'stewy'. Loves things like steak and chips, but there aren't many meals he really enjoys. Give him a disgusting burger in a pack from the shop tho and he's quite happy:confused:

I do wonder if bone idleness comes into it as he can just shove said burger in microwave.

Thanks goodness for OH who is appreciative of almost anything (except courgettes which he hates with a passion:rotfl: )

I struggle with what the kids can and will have, aswell as me liking veg and DP disliking it. I find dinners are a good option as lots of thing cooked enough for 3 portions of each veg, meat, yorkshires, potato variety (one won't eat mash) that way everyones happy. Most meals like bolognese etc 3 of us will have but one won't and it drives me crackers sometimes. Getting used to it now but sometimes just wish I could cook exactly the same for everyone and have a peaceful house. I tend to meal plan one meal each day and have a back up for whichever fuss pot won't eat it.

By the way my DS1 the main fuss pot also wont have anything stew like or basically most things wet, he'll have sweetcorn with every meal but won't touch beans, spaghetti, peas etc etc. Doesn't have rice, pasta, mash etc. Suppose he has a reason, well sort of he has Autism. He's petrified of trying anything new, but we are slowly getting there with this. Also part of the reason he doesn't like wet things I think, he struggles with cutlery due to poor motor skills and prefers to eat with his hands or he gets extremely frustrated.

When trying out new foods, I would agree with slowl, maybe one a week, let them try it first so if some dislike it you can pop it in the freezer for those who do another day.

Oh and lucky you, my DP never cooks!
One day I might be more organised...........
