We're getting to the point of wanting to pay deposits for things, but after spending so long finding the *perfect* everything I'm now worried in case the hotel/photographer/florist/etc/etc goes into administration. I realise it can't be helped, and there's no way of forecasting it happening but it's still worrying me.
Is anyone else concerned? And yes, we're going to get wedding insurance but no amount of money can compensate for the hours and hours I've spent looking at venues!

I feel your concern, especially considering our venue last June went into receivership!!! Thankfully the hotel has been bought by new owners and although it didn't feel like it at the time, its probably the best thing that could have happened to us as the new owners seem much more organised and like they should be owning a hotel! We had wedding insurance but like you mentioned, we wanted the hotel we chose as it was perfect and we wouldn't have wanted to accept second best.If you like my post, please click the THANKS

You can't let it worry you. Just get the insurance so you know you are covered should the worst happen. Some policies will pay out for extra additional cost at having to hire a more expensive venue etc
Our venue owners ran off with our deposit and alot of other couples deposit 6months before our wedding. It all turned out alright in the end as we ended up getting a last minute deal for our dream venue that previoulsy had been too expensive0 -

Same thing happened with us. Luckily, it happened when we still had over a year to find somewhere else. We also got our deposit back.
It grated at the time as the venue was perfect for us and I was upset.
The 2nd choice actually turned out better for us though as we had very heavy snow on our wedding day (26 January 2013) and the first venue would have been a nightmare for us and our guests to get to and from.
Basically, you can't stop it happening, just make sure you've insured and if the worst happens you're covered.0
