in Cutting tax
So what does this condition mean;
young people under 25 who get funding from the Skills Funding Agency or Young People’s Learning Agency
Does it mean someone under 25, whos course is funded (free) by the Skills Funding Agency, regardless of time. i.e. full or part time.
I understand this is seperate from "Student Discount" because you cannot claim the discount under this condition when studying part time.
I already know about the student discount and this does not apply in my case :cool:
Thanks in advance

Do you live alone ?
Is it a single person discount ?0 -
An apprentice or a person on a training scheme may be disregarded for council tax purposes - this would lead to a 25% discount if there are other adults in the property (and they are not also disregarded). If your sole occupier you would be entitled to a 50% discount.
The discounts are the same across every council so the criteria here will be same as your local authority:
http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/advice-and-benefits/council-tax/council-tax-discounts/youth-trainees.aspxI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Thanks for the info. That website is very useful, unlike my local Council.
The reason I have been confused is that tha access to higher education course is funded in the same way, and that's the course that my partner does.0
