A slight side note to the main discussion, you say that your monthly wage is £1447.15 and you earn £28,000 per year? That doesn't sound right to me, unless that is the amount you'll get while on maternity leave.
I earn less than £17,000 and I get £1,150 per month, so you earn £11,000 more than me, which is an extra £917 per month (before tax of course), but you're only taking home £297.15 per month more?0
