Credit file problems

Hi, does anyone have experience of trying to get their credit file sorted? Specifically, ive got a default from october 2007 (£2400 personal loan with high street bank) that still appears on my credit record - the bank is still reporting this to experian (but stopped reporting it to equifax in 2008). i have niot made any payments since.
the bank have stopped chasing me for the debt after i requested from them a full statement of account which they could not provide! i assume they have written off the amount, but because they keep reporting it each month its not looking good on my credit file. Am i right in thinking this will just drop off my file this october (2013) at the 6 year mark after the default date? any advice appreciated! thanks

Yes, it will disappear 6 years from the default date regardless.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

As fermi says, it will drop off your credit file automatically, but dont make the mistake of thinking it is 'written off'
You still owe it, it is just that it is not enforcable. People could still chase you for it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
