Well many people are losing there jobs due to the economy etc, I had a job working part time one day a week for just under 2 Years (September 2010 - August 2012) Then I changed my job to doing Caretaking but full time this time, still with the same employer I have done that since September 2012 to Now, I have been giving more and more things to do and then out of the blue they have told me on Thursday I am no longer needed after February 15th
I know I was on a temporary contract and they could get rid of me at any time but now I have just under two weeks to find a new job or go to the Job Center which I don't want to do
I am a 18 year old male, have experience in ICT and now Caretaking, the problem is I have no idea what kind of job to apply for as I don't know what to do
I know some people will say this what happens in life but as a shy, nervous 18 year old who has only ever had this job, I am stuck in what to do next.
Can anybody please help me in what I should do next, any help is much appreciated
Many Thanks

Hi is your CV up to date, if not make that a priority. It might be worth going and registering with some agencies even if they only get you short term work while you are looking for something longer term. Get on the net and search for jobs. indeed.co.uk is a good place to start."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0

Contact local Colleges and schools regarding the caretaking side, they may have some vacancies and would provide training. On a side note they would also be able to advise on training or employers they work with.0

You might get a better response if you change the title of your post, as people may see the title 'lost job' and click on it thinking it is a request for advice about employment rights (which is why I looked at your post).
Maybe if you changed it to 'seeking work - any advice?' or something like that.

I would pursue this idea of a temporary contract. You have been employed continuously for over 2 years, so you are (in my view, and I would appreciate the views of others) entitled to
 - redundancy pay (which won't be much, but you might as well have it!)
 - notice (what does your contract say? This could be a month!)
 - pay for any holiday accrued but not taken.
It may be important to clarify that you are being made redundant, as this will simplify a decision (and make it more likely that they will say yes!) on your rights to JSA while you look for your next job Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

You should update your c.v. and post it on various job agencies. They will provide you job opportunity according to your profile. So don't waste your time and register your self with job agencies and get job as soon as possible.Thanks0

Ah, apologies, I missed the point about the new job being with the same employer. In that case, yes if you have 2 yrs continuous employment, you have the right nor to be unfairly dismissed. This means that if this is a genuine redundancy situation, you are entitled to a statutory redundancy pay (calculated on your full time pay) accrued holidays, and any outstanding wages, and expenses due to you.
What does your contract say about notice? If it is just statutory, then you have been given two weeks' notice. If your contract says one month's notice then you will still be owed some pay in lieu.
It is also worth getting an employment lawyer (law centre, CAB) to look at this, to make sure that the circumstances of the redundancy and the procedure followed were fair in law.
EDIT - If that is your real name, I suggest you remove it from your post.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Ask your existing employer if you can have your old 1 day per week job back; if not you're entitled to redundancy.
Do a course to improve your skills, update your CV and get it out there and as others have said approach schools, factories and large business' for caretaker work.
Believe me you will be better off long term.0
