I currently have a 25% discount on my Council Tax for single occupancy.
My son has just moved to Canada to live but wishes to retain a UK bank account. If he uses my address will it cause any problems with my discount?

Quite possibly it may do when the council do their reviews of single person discounts. It may be worth contacting the council in advance and speaking with them.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

As long as he isn't on the electoral roll and you get easily get proof of his address in Canada then you will be able to show if the council enquires he isn't actually living at the property.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Proof of Canadian address will be no problem. I assume he removed himself from the electoral roll but shall check.0
