What do you want from a Bridal Shop?

  • Not to be harsh or anything and I totally understand where you're coming from but as difficult as it is to tell if a dress suits you when it's pinned at the back it's got to be harder to figure out if it suits you when you can't get more than one leg inside don't you think?

You don't have to have every dress in a small size, but surely skinny girls deserve the experience of trying on a dress or two that fits and swirling around/ admiring the back of the dress, etc. Considering you can sell off your sample dresses, I think the initial outlay will be worth it. I don't buy my regular clothes from Evans and I was put off by bridal shops that seemed to cater only for plus sizes.
  • Morning!
I'm currently looking in to buying a Bridal shop and doing lot's of market research. I think that this shop could do with some revitalisation and should offer something a bit different to other shops in the area. I am particularly looking at supporting local craftspeople who make tiaras, wedding shoes, cakes etc.

What does everyone dislike about bridal shops and what could be done better?

    Thank you!

I was completely put off looking at bridal shops for my dress because my local ones only seemed to stock full-length sleeveless gowns in small sizes. Plus the shops all seemed to be stuffed with ballgowns & prom dresses etc and felt very cramped.

We planned our wedding in less than 4 months and this wasn't enough time for local shops to order in something vaguely like what I wanted (modest, sleeved, tea-length non-boned frock)

In the end I bought an Evans 'prom' dress online in vintage cream lace and it looked pretty darn good with the accessories etc https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4113725

    So my suggestions:
    • large size range
    • ability to stock dresses outside of the normal bridal 'box' (new or second hand)
    • same with accessories - I had to make my own birdcage pale pink veil as I couldn't find a stockist.
