Where have all the cheap prunes gone?!

I have always bought prunes from Aldi (£1.39 a 500 gm bag) but for weeks there has been a "Sorry out of stock" label on the shelf. So, in the meantime, I resorted to buying them from Home Bargains instead (albeit more expensive at 99p for a 250 gm bag). This week Home Bargains didn't have any either! So looked in Booths - all they had were Humdinger chopped ones at nearly £3 a bag! So next stop Sainsbury's - they only had Humdinger too, the chopped variety and a traditional stone-in variety at (I think) £1.99 a bag. None of their own brand in stock and not a pitted prune to be seen!

Has anybody seen any pitted prunes at a more realistic price?
