Wage Slips?

How long should I keep Wage Slips before destroying them? :confused:

    I hold onto them for 6 years as thats the length of time HMRC can investigate.

    I keep mine for as long as it takes the wife to wash my trousers with them in the pocket. As long as you have your P60 you should be ok if anyone needs proof of income.

    I keep mine for a year. If your not going to need to do a tax return their is no need to keep them past the end of that tax year as far as I can see. If you submit tax returns its probably better to keep them longer incase any questions come up latter.

    I have kept every payslip I have ever had since I left school! No particular reason. I do sometimes look at the old ones and marvel at how times have changed. My first weeks wageslip was for less than £15!
    I believe you are supposed to keep your P60 and bank statements for 6 years.

  • well i have all my wages slips from my old company and this (barring 2 missing from my first job and one from this) i will probably destroy them when they reach 6 years :)

    I'm still waiting for my first payslip in 25 years. ;)
    I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
    If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
