    Hi,

After some debate in my head I have decided to use payplan rather than pay a fee to a company to manage my DMP. I just wondered if anyone has used payplan, are they any good? The website was helpful and the man on the phone was also fine, I'm being sent paperwork to fill in.

I found Payplan to be very good and based on my experience would not hesitate to recommend them.

Like any company, there are going to be complaints.

But these amount to very few compared to the thousands and thousands of people who have had no trouble with Payplan.

Take antonics advice above, if you go with them and use whatever is available to keep yourself up to date and on top of things. It sounds like everything you need is available to you to do that.

One of the dangerous things to do, when it comes to anything financial is to take your eye off the ball. Yes it is depressing being in debt and it is tempting to bury our heads in the sand.

But remember once you have start your DMP, you become much more in control and well on your way to becoming debt free.
  • Hi

I hope you dont mind me asking but are you talking about an IVA or a Debt Management Plan as quite a few things dont seem right?
It was an IVA I had with Payplan.
  • Just a quick update on my situation.
Spoke with Payplan again who are refunding all my payments made after the date of failure although nobody there seemed to be able to tell me how much it was actually going to be!
They are still investigating what happened, but i don't hold a lot of faith in any decent outcome as they only seem interested in whether letters were sent recorded delivery (they weren't), seems to me like they are hoping to pass the blame for any of their mismanagement.

I wasn't aware Payplan managed IVA's, when I spoke to them back in July they advised they didn't actually do IVA's however they would put you in touch with a company/advisor who could deal with setting this up...... thats what I though they advised anyway....

I have been with Payplan since July and cannot fault them.. I have read on here too re provident etc they are treated as any other creditor and the offer goes direct once accepted you no longer deal with the doorstep collector, all is done via their system. Other people have also said Provident have been really good in agreeing/complying with Payplans wishes. Best of luck :)

    Hi

Sounds a little puzzling still to be honest, but we are talking about IVAs I suppose.

    Hope you get properly sorted

An interesting one most definitely, keep us updated if you can.

    Just my views

I entered an IVA using payplan a couple of years ago and until yesterday everything was fine with it. I was paying my monthly installments (£145) and had no reason to expect what happened next.
A quick 45min phone call to Payplan revealed that my arrangement had been cancelled in March 2012 as i hadn't given them information they had requested. However they had never sent me any correspondence or called me to inform me of this rather important fact!
They have however continued to accept my payments for the last 10 months and apparently it was my responsibility to cancel the standing order.

Actually in coming back and re reading your post it makes no sense whatsoever an IVA does not take 1 year to set up... if u entered into it a couple of years ago and all was fine then thats it there is no further info etc needed once set up it is a formal arrangement set in stone...yet it was only cancelled in March of 2012...sorry that makes no sense... think the Payplan Rep maybe needs to clarify some things....

missusM as you are not entering into an IVA with Payplan I wouldnt really take much from mrgrs posts.... in my opinion they have been and are fantastic.. and you will find that is the opinion of the majority of people who have used them from what I have seen on this forum.... in all honesty tho u really are under no obligations to stay with them, if after a few months u are really not happy with them u are free to change and look elsewhere, step change is another DMP company who do not charge for the service...

hi would the problem coming from an annual review situation, you could used the website, which you can log on to see what is what, also have your email so your advisory helper could have helped, if you got ten months of payments which could be offered to the creditor for the debt. good luck

I found them to be good, {we finished our dmp after 9years, last november} but you have to do bit of work yourself, rather like asking for charges and interest to stop. would it be possible to ask the court to accept an arrangement or try to get another free charity to deal with your problems
  • Hi MissusM

Payplan have been very good indeed regarding my DMP. I particularly like a Payplan Plus, the online sit where I can check my details. They also offered me an insurance cover against redundancy; on £140 a month payment this costs £6 per month and means my DMP would be paid for a year is I was out of work.

Now I know that £6 could be clearing a debt but my line of work is somewhat unstable right now so I prefer the peace of mind.
