Barclaycard - Taken debt without authorisation?

The worst thing is I checked my statement and saw the balance & nearly had a heart attack because I thought I'd been done for fraud! Just an awful experience0

Get proper advice, if CAB have told you you can have a current account with a creditor you owed thousands do and not even though about the ofset rule how can you trust themDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

In my experience Barclaycard wont give a flying turd, but still listen to fermis' advice, as always its very goodOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0

Bit of an update... Spoke to Barclaycard today, and they wouldn't budge. Spoke to Step Change, and based on what I told them, they seem confident that they will be able to get the money refunded. I'm not holding out much hope, though... Step Change are ringing me back tomorrow0

Which is why you don't give up, and take the matter to the FOS if they still won't shift.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Good luck with it and I do hope you manage to get it sorted out. I would certainly have sent a very strong letter to them pointing out you will be taking it up with the FOS.
It seems these banks are not bothering at all with the terms of the lending code (my current account was closed 8 days after missing the first loan payment) as soon as they got wind I was going on a DMP.
I really think the important message needs to be before you contact anyone you have credit with is to get the account moved over to someone else as it seems in a lot of cases one sniff off non payment and they are grabbing as much money as they can under the right of offset rule.0 -
All they kept saying was 'we left enough in there to easily cover your direct debits' This is ridiculous, as I only have 2 active Direct Debits on my account at the moment - try to pay everything in cash now, so obviously said they wouldn't cover that, and 'they wouldn't be looking to refund the amount taken'
Also, to rub salt into the woulnd, got a letter from the debt collection agency dealing with the Barclaycard debt, telling me off for making a payment directly to Barclaycard!0 -
Checked my bank account today and Barclaycard have taken the remaining £400 I owe them, again without any communication. Seriously don't know why I have even bothered with a DMP - it's only since I started the DMP and StepChange got in touch that they have decided to help themselves to my bank account. Did it the day after payday
Goint to ring both Barclaycard and StepChange tomorrow
