Which magazine to get?

I hope this is the right board to post this. :)

One of my birthday presents this week was a year's subscription to a craft magazine. There is a choice of 4 - The World of Cross Stitch, Cardmaking and Papercraft, Craftseller or Knit Today and I don't know which one to choose. :(

Much as I would love to be able to do cross stitch (my Mum was a wizz at it and made beautiful pictures & things), I don't think I would have the patience.

I do already make cards and have occasionally bought Cardmaking and Papercraft when there was a free gift I liked the look of.

I do knit and again have occasionally bought Knit Today magazine.

I have never bought or even looked at a copy of Craftseller magazine. Can anyone tell me what sort of things it has in it please? Would you say it was worth it?

I have a while to decide which magazine to choose so I would be very interested in your comments about the pros & cons of each magazine before I make my final choice.

Thank you in advance. :)

  • I get craftseller magazine, and I like it because there's a real mix of different crafts.

I've got the January issue in front of me. It came with a card of 8 buttons and there are 16 pages of craft paper. There are loads of different projects in the magazine

    Make a bag
    Make a childs apron
Make and iPhone 5 cover (although it would fit any phone)
Update a photo frame by making fabric flowers
    Crochet and owl doorstop
Cross stitch keyrings with initials on
Card making (using the papers that came with the magazine)
    Knit a hat
    Make candles in a jar
    make roses out of felt
    Crochet hearts
    baby bootees out of felt
    Knit a scarf with pockets
Make a lampshade using the papers that came with the magazine
    Make a ring
    Make a bracelet

So quite a good mixture, plus articles, tutorials, letters, competitions etc.

I would say that this is a great magazine for a relative beginner. I like sewing, but have attempted new crafts after seeing them in here.

I found this offer too http://secure3.subscribeonline.co.uk/origin/offers.sol?mag=CSEL&cmp=F005&promobox=FALSE&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=%2Bcraftseller%20%2Bmagazine&utm_campaign=S_CSEL_Dec12LPTest_SO&utm_content=f005 (3 magazines for £3) so you can try it out before your birthday. Theres another offer in the magazine for 5 copies for £5 which I can't find at the moment, but will post up later.
  • Sorry the other offer has expired now.

You asked for cons as well as pros, so I would say that if you were an expert knitter for example, the knitting patterns might be too simple for you (they're nice patterns though, so that might not matter). Also the articles are geared towards people selling craft. Even if you don't though, I think you'd enjoy the magazine, and it's got to be worth £3 to try it out.

Hi Folks does anyone subscribe to Cardmaking and Papercraft ?
I was given an issue at Christmas and decided to buy a subscription because the freebie was 15 promarkers (a girl can never have too many :rotfl:) and some edge punches they said they were valued at app £45 .I got an email confirming the offer but today they sent me 4 Tonic petal pairs:mad:
I really don't like them and have sent an email asking for the original offer.Do you think they will honour it ?
