Hi
Friends mobile phone stolen - she reported to police - didnt tell mobile company until bill.
OK - owes £600
Student at university
Can she offer to pay £10 a month etc?
Could they still take her to court etc
No "hindsight" comments please - silly girl etc - what I would have done....
Most forums are full of answers nothing to do with question...
Thanks for those who try to help

Very unlikely to be taken to court even if no payments have been made. The worst I've had is a default which stays on your credit record for 6 years before dropping off. The company then writes the debt off. If she can't afford to pay it off in full then I just wouldn't pay anything and wait out the 6 years and keep your £10 a month.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

The only problem with that idea, is we don't know how far into the contract she is, or how much it is.
If she is on month 3 of a 24 month contract at £30 a month, it could end up costing her a pretty penny.0 -

Thanks for your time so far0 -
