I don't know how much I spend on bread I alway buys reduced bread and rolls and freeze it or if there's none on sale then get own brand. Will never pay over a pound for a loaf of bread. The other day was going to get some bread with a 5op off coupon they wouldn't accept coupon so left the bread I'm not paying pound for it.Have a bread maker going to start using that again.0

I make a 400g loaf every other day. I am bone idle so use a bread maker. Costs about 20p a loaf including 0.5kWh of electric. Tomorrows lunch will be fresh bread with curried vegetable soup which is cooking away in the slow cooker as I type0

not much of a bread-lover but when i do, I like sourdough, spelt and ciabatta but they're a bit pricey so I don't buy that often (I'm the sort that freezes most of it and have it as and when I feel like it). Tried to be MSE about this and earnestly tried so hard to make my own sourdough starter and failed about 4/5 times now over last couple of years.. I just can't get it right...
Also, I love Turkish bread - has anyone noticed these large oval shaped, 2" thick bread, sometimes with sesame seed on top? I love it with HM hummus or make a super stuffed sandwich with loadsa ingreds in (can't remember the name of it, but it's drizzled with olive oil and then weighted down for a while before slicing).
Mmmh, come to think of it, there's another bread I like and that's a traditional Nan bread that I like to buy from a Jordanian or Kurdish Nan Baker's (cooked to order, 4 large ones for a £1 hot from the oven!)
Did I say, I wasn't much of a "bread-lover" well, I do like it but I can't eat it every day (maybe every 2/3)!0 -
I buy at the most one loaf of bread per week as I live alone and don't eat a lot of bread really.I buy Burgen soya and linseed at Iceeland's and its £1.00 per loaf so I only spend just over 50 odd pounds per year.Sometimes less as I bring it home and will divide it up into portions of four slices to a packet and freeze it.I often have bread left over in the freezer at the end of the week so delay in buying more until I have run out.I do like occassional bagels, but again I only buy them when on special off or if they are reduced and they too are frozen.I do own a breadmaker that sits inits box on top of my kitchen cabinet its never been used as for the amount of bread I would eat its hardly worth the effort.(its was one of my daft impulse buys that I got with nectar points several years ago)I will at some point find someone who could use it and will donate it to them.:):):)0
